The Feb 2025 Spoof
Transcript:
So, yesterday I made a spoof video, and I was doing this intentionally because I wanted to check if the algorithm kicks in and it makes this video go in front of people just because of people's comments on the video. Okay, so yesterday's video, you can look it up. The title of the video is “February 2025,” and I spoke with a straight face and I said, you know, February, I was looking at my travel schedule, all of this stuff. You can watch the video. But what is interesting is that the algorithm did pick it up, and I saw a trend which is not normal.
So, here's a trend of a video in the past that went viral. So this was the "Toyota 1690 Rule." Okay, look, there's an asymptotic curve that rises and then flattens out. Here's another example of a video that has this approximately the same viewership as yesterday's video. And you see again, you can see an asymptotic curve. Now, here is the trend for yesterday's video. And you can see there's this not normal taking off section of the curve, because the algorithm has picked it up because of many, many, many people's comments. And this shows that when you make content that engages people, even if it's nonsense content, the algorithm will fool you into thinking that it's important.
