The Elements
Transcript:
So, I'm here at the Art of Living International Centre in Bengaluru, India. And during this time of the year, which is called Navratri—Nav means nine, Ratri means night—it's the nine nights of the Devi, the feminine energy. The nine nights are celebrated during this time. It's called Navratri. And in Navratri, the Art of Living Centre performs these Homas. They are these chants and offerings that they do on a community scale.
And what is interesting is to observe the play of the elements in the Homas. So in the physical sciences, there is earth, water, fire, air and ether. And matter is made up of one or many of these combinations. Earth, water, fire, air and ether. In the spiritual sciences, there is a subtle level also with these five elements. So corresponding to the earth element, there is a subtle version. Water element, there is a subtle version. Air element, fire element, there is a subtle version like that.
And the most interesting thing is the fire element. Because the fire element is what connects the physical plane to the ethereal plane. And that connection is via the fire element. So the fire element is the most important element in all these Homas. It is just brilliant.
