The Cyclones.
Transcript:
So, with the hurricane season approaching in the United States, it is critical to look at what are the parameters that enable a cyclone to form. So, there's four things that need to happen:
First is that the water of the ocean has to be at least 27 degrees at the depth of 50 meters below the surface. So, the water temperature has to be high up to a depth of 50 meters. It has to be 27 degrees.
The next thing is above the surface of the water, up to 5 kilometers up, there should be significant amount of moisture. Usually the air at 5 kilometers up is really dry but there has to be sufficiently large amount of moisture up to 5 kilometers and this can only happen when the average temperature of the air is higher. So global warming contributes to that.
The third thing is that the winds must be east-to-west direction. Not only east to west, but there also has to be shear, which means the velocity of the wind higher up compared to lower down has to be different so that the Coriolis force can take over and the swirl can start.
So, with these conditions, it's easy to predict when cyclone is happening and global warming is a problem.
