Rest

Transcript:

Hi, welcome to another episode of "A Little Something About Everything." Today, we're going to talk about rest. During the pandemic, I was having conversations with a friend of mine, Sriram Sarvottam. And Sriram is an advanced yoga practitioner. And what Sriram told me was this: In any yoga practice, the rest stage at the end of the asanas is the most important one. Because that is when all the benefits of the asanas are being assimilated by the mind and the body.

Same thing happens for a spiritual practice. I, for example, do this practice called Sudarshan Kriya. At the end of the Sudarshan Kriya, there is an instruction to stretch the legs and lie down. During the rest period is when all the magic happens. The benefits of the Kriya are assimilated during the rest period.

And here's the kicker. In the process of making chai, the most important step is at the end when all the boiling has been done. You switch off the gas, put a lid on the vessel, and just let it rest for a minute or two. It takes the chai to a completely new level—the rest period at the end.

There you have it—another episode of "A Little Something About Everything." See you on the next one. Bye!
