Hurricanes' Impact!!

Transcript:

So, some weeks ago, we looked at the factors that affect the strength of hurricanes and cyclones that hit North America and other parts of the world. Interestingly, there is a study out in Nature that looked at the impact of these hurricanes over the past 100 years. So, on an average, a hurricane causes maybe 7,000 to 11,000 deaths, depending on its intensity. But what is interesting about this study from Nature is that the impact of a hurricane on someone's life can last up to 15 years after the storm has hit. And if you total up all the deaths over 100 years, 3.5 million Americans have been killed by hurricanes, which, interestingly, is more than the amount of Americans that have died in car accidents. So, the impact of hurricanes is huge. So the last hurricane that hit, Helene, has knocked out in North Carolina a factory that was making dialysis fluid supplying 40,000 Americans per day. So, the impact is real.
