Bath: Shower vs Bucket
Transcript:
So, water is a precious resource, and in our usage of water, we waste a lot of it. And I made a video on this; you can look it up on sandeepkarode.com. But here's the interesting question I asked myself: which is better, taking a shower or using a bucket and a tumbler to have a bath? Now, this is not so easy to resolve, but since I'm in India, I have access to a shower and a bucket and a tumbler, and I can do the experiment.
So it's clear, if you take a shower and you get lost in the shower, then there is a lot of water wastage. If you take long showers, bucket is always winner. But what if you take precise showers, so water switches on, body gets wet, water switches off, put soap, water switches on, body gets rinsed? In this scenario, is the shower the winner or the bucket the winner? And the answer is: they are about the same.
Except in a situation where you have to adjust the temperature of the water—let's say it's very cold, and you can't take a bath with extremely cold water or extremely hot water. In which case, the process in which the water temperature is adjusted, that step the shower wastes water and the bucket is the winner.
