Chai & Why 2020.08.02

Timeline

Where are you all these days? You missed the biggest thing. What do people say? The best thing since the lockdown is the Physics of Pranayama. If you have missed that, कम्भखत तूने पी ही नहीं यार!! ऐसा हो गया ना। Come and see. We look into the science behind pranayama, how it works and we see how it all goes together.

Happiness program, Sahaj Samadhi, Chai and Why. No, not Chai and Why. Happiness program, Sahaj Samadhi, Hollow and Empty, Advanced course, how it all goes together. It's a nice interactive session. Two hours. The next one is on Sunday. Next Sunday. 16th. Come. Oh no, it's 16th. Two Sundays later. गलती सें mistake हो गया!!

So that is Physics of Pranayama. 16th will be in Hindi. And the 16th session is going to be Dhansu. You know why? Because I hired some people to teach me Hindi. You know who they are? You want to know the names of my Hindi teachers? One is Munna Jhakaas Kapoor!! Second is Anthony Gonzalves Bachchan!! And the third is Arshad Circuit Warsi!! Right? If you have such a great teacher, what kind of a session will it be? If you have attended in English, then also come to Hindi. We will take it to the next level. But it's going to be good. It's going to be fun. I am not going to speak pure Hindi. But you will understand. You will understand everything.

Oh, this is coming from yesterday's SSY session with Sabina. Yeah, so it's not that we do asanas starting from the right side. It is really the twisting asanas that are, how do you say, polarized. So if you are doing bending asanas, you can also start with your left hand. Then you can follow with your right hand. But when you are doing twisting, then it is always preferred to start the twist by twisting to the right.

When you do a spinal twist, you start by spinal twisting to the right, and after that, you do the twist to the left. It is always reversible, but it is first done with the right and then to the left. But for bending asanas, it doesn't matter. You can start with the hand going left first, and then the hand going right after. It does not matter.

I displayed the thing. Patanjali Yoga Sutras is starting not this Monday but the Monday after that. Patanjali Yoga Sutras is starting on the 10th. Let me see the calendar. 10th, yeah. Patanjali Yoga Sutras will start on 10th and it goes for 2 weeks. So 5 days of the week, then weekend you do manana, again 5 days of the week. But it is an intensive course. So if you are not a sincere student, don't come because you will be in a fix. Some people here who have done the course ask them. We put them through the wringer. They said where are we stuck. But in the end, it was good.

[Participant] Timing please.

Find out. मेरे को काम पे लगा रहे है सब लोग। Bhaiya, you organize, you tell me the timing. What will you do? Timing please. Get on the thing, find the time. It is not like that.

No, we don't focus on counting. Who told you to focus on counting? When you do 20-40-40 Sudarshan Kriya rounds, there is no focus on counting. Who told you to focus on counting? Please tell me the name of your happiness teacher. No, no, I don't want to know. But there is no counting involved. It is instinctively, your body will know when to switch. The counting is there only for the first 20-25 days. So that is the training wheels. The training wheels of your bicycle are your counting. After that, you don't count. You simply have an intention that I am going to do Sudarshan Kriya and the whole sadhana for 20 minutes. That's it. Done. It will happen.

And if you catch yourself going, the breath will take over. The rhythm will not be exactly 20-40-40. It cannot be. It is a guideline. You will go here and there. The rhythm will come. Whatever has to come will come. But the rhythm has to not drift. What you have to pay attention to is the drifting. What is the meaning of drifting? The normal rhythm is slow, medium, and fast. Isn't it? Slow, medium, fast. If you don't do Sudarshan Kriya with Guruji's voice for some... Let's say you say, "Oh, forget it. I don't need to hear the Soham. I know. I am the king of the world." Okay, fine. You know what is going to happen? Mind is going to play a trick and your rhythm is going to shift from slow, medium, and fast to medium, fast, and super fast. That drift will happen. That's because the mind will play tricks on you. The mind wants to finish it off quickly. So the Soham becomes Soham. And the Soham becomes Soham. And the Soham becomes Soham. You see people do like this. They go like a freight train where they are doing the fast breath. Drift. It is obvious that the drift has happened. How to set the drift? You go back and do again audibly with the Soham chant count. The drift, the system is reset.

Punah-Punah, again and again. Once a week you go and do the guided version of the Sudarshan Kriya. Nowadays we are doing the short version but it is still available as guided. Eventually, we will go back to the long version. Doing it in Guruji's voice is good.

When I am in an Aho moment or is anybody in an Aho moment? I am guessing it is anybody in an Aho moment. So I wrote about it. If you go to medium.com, there is an article I wrote about called the Aho of Physics. The Aho of Physics.

And in the Aho of Physics, the first preamble is what happens when the Aho moment comes. It is an introduction to the word Aho. Read that. Just that much part. It is one paragraph. And if you feel like it then read the whole article. It's about frictionless and light and how lack of friction time does not happen. And we talked about all this in the Patanjali Yoga Sutras but I had written this many, many years ago. It's all about that.

So read it. I don't think it's such a heavy article. It's a very light article. Somebody by the time can post it here also the link. But there the 'Aho' moment is described. It's a tunneling effect. All the senses focus and clarity comes and then there is a distancing that happens from the thing that you are understanding. And then there is a big distancing that happens and suddenly there is this feeling that is described by the word 'Aho'. And that feeling is for that brief moment, that microsecond, or even nanosecond, or a tiny amount of time, you are the only person in the whole universe that has connected these dots in a certain way.

That feeling comes and then that feeling goes away. But that tiny moment that feeling comes 'Aho' then that sound comes 'Aha'. 'Eureka'. And then there is a little bit of a pause by the time your mind-body processes it. And then at least for me after two days I said, "Oh, what's the big deal? This is so obvious." And then I leave it away, I write the paper, finish it, and done. Then go to the next one. This is the beauty of 'Aho'. You cannot predict when it comes. It just comes. It just happens.

How to improve meditation? The best way to improve meditation is to do it. Without doing it, you cannot improve meditation. It is impossible. There are many books on how to meditate. There are many books on how to play cricket also. But if I read the books on how to play cricket and I go face Alan Donald from South Africa, do you think I have a chance? No chance, man. I will be clean bowled, first ball. The only way to become a good cricket player is to play cricket.

Similarly, the only way to become a proficient meditator is to meditate. If you want to refine your meditation technique, Sahaj Samadhi is the meditation to do. You can take baby steps, starting with guided meditations. Start with guided meditations and transition to learning the Sahaj Samadhi technique. Sahaj Samadhi is a beautiful meditation. It is so effortless, and it brings you to a state of Samadhi.

What is Samadhi? Stillness. There is a whole session on the Sahaj Samadhi Refresher about what exactly is the meaning of Samadhi. There are 3 or 4 meanings of the word Samadhi, and we talk about all that. But the first thing to do to become good at anything is to start doing it, and not regularly. Regularly does not work. Daily, every day. Regularly, once every 7 days, if you do, not going to do anything. But every day, again and again. Then it will happen.

0:18:58

No. Can we play cricket on a Kabaddi field? No. Can we play badminton in water? No. I mean come on. You cannot invoke Sahaj Mantra in guided meditation. Guided meditation is guided. Sahaj Meditation is Sahaj. You don't mix the two things. Not allowed.

0:19:27

In the 3 stage pranayama, there is a hold step. And we talk about this in excruciating detail in the Physics of Pranayama talk. The hold is where the assimilation happens. The prana gets assimilated in the body in the first hold step of 4. And in the second hold step of 2, the toxins get purged from the body. That is the net effect.

If you want any more details, you come on the Physics of Pranayama session. I will explain it in more detail and I will explain it also in Hindi. I don't know what words I will use, but it will be awesome.

So that's what happens during the hold. The assimilation happens. So if you don't hold, then all the extra work that you did to bring that prana into your system is of no use because the assimilation has not happened. So you brought some stuff. It's like you buy 7 bananas and you eat only 2 of them and the rest of the 5 you throw away after 7 days. What's the point of buying 7 bananas? You should have brought only 2 bananas. It's like that. If you bought 7 bananas, you have to assimilate the 7 bananas. It's like that.

0:20:50

There are many very different ways of doing pranayama, and many different things happen when you do certain modulations of the breath. What is pranayama? Pranayama is simply having active control over the breath and modulating it in certain rhythms where certain things, non-causal things, you understand the meaning of non-causal things? If you do one, then that same result will happen. This is causal. 1 is to 1 is a causal relationship. So if you press the light switch, one bulb will light up. That is a causal relationship. There are non-causal relationships also. If you press the light switch, some bulb in the room will light up. You don't know which bulb. That's non-causal. And no, that is also causal actually. Sorry, that's a wrong example. When you press a light switch, something unknown to you happens. Maybe a light bulb goes off or something else happens which you don't know. That thing that happens that you don't know is the non-causal part of it.

What is happening in pranayama, you cannot know. But people from elevated states of consciousness, they know that if you do this, this and this, then that, that and that will happen. But the subject or the person who is practicing does not need to know what that, that and that is. So the instruction is given. So for example, people who have done sanyam, they do Bhogar pranayama. People then do Nadi Shodhan pranayama. There are many different forms of pranayama. Many different things happen.

So for the Sudarshan Kriya process, the recommended thing is the three-stage pranayama because you are playing with the prana and the modulations and how to fill the lung system from the bottom to the top, energy stroke is up, many, many things are happening. So in the Sudarshan Kriya process, we do three-stage pranayama. That's not the only pranayama there is. There are zillions of pranayamas. But don't mix and match. Today I will do Bhogar and then I will do Bhastrika. No, you don't do like that. You do three-stage pranayama and then you do Bhastrika and then you do Om and then you do Kriya. You don't say oh, hodgepodge like this. It doesn't work. Yeah.

0:23:36

You mean the bandha, the locks. You are talking about the locks. I guess you are talking about the locks. So did I explain how to do Bhastrika in the session, on the Physics of Pranayama session? Have I explained the Bhastrika process? How many have learnt how to do Bhastrika? I mean I know you have learnt Bhastrika because you did Happiness Program, but learnt properly, another way of learning. Did I talk about this on your Physics of Pranayama session or no? You have got to say yes or no like that. If I haven't talked then oh no. No.

Ok, so let's do Bhastrika. It's good. So to do Bhastrika, you sit at the edge of the chair. If you are sitting on a chair, you sit at… So Bhastrika is done with the back straight. How do you keep the back straight? The physics of keeping the back straight is to drop the knees below the level of your hip. So if you are sitting on the chair, sit at the edge of the chair and let the knees fall below the level of your hip, automatically you will see the back becomes straight.

Then in Bhastrika, it is the most effortless process. Palms are in a loose fist in front of the shoulders. How loose is the fist? The fist is as loose as the tips of the fingers gently touching the palm. That's it. It is only gently touching. It is this loose. It is not like you are getting into a boxing match. It is not that one. If the tips of the fingers are gently touching the palm, that much loose. If they are not touching, then it is not a fist. They have to be gently touching. And since the fingers are touching the palm, the thumb cannot be inside. Otherwise, the fingers don't touch the palm. Tips of the fingers. Tips. Do you understand the meaning of tips? Tips means this part, not this. This is the face of the finger. Tips means the top of the finger. If the top of the finger has to touch the palm, the thumb cannot be inside. So the thumb by default has to be outside. There is no confusion there.

So we start like this. Then in normal breath, you breathe in and as you breathe in, the hands go up and the palms open. Palms open like this. How do you know whether the palms have to be open? I will tell you. When the palms go up, there is a pot of gold. You have to catch the gold. Now the palm has to open. Otherwise, you are not catching the gold. So that's how you remember that the palms have to open. And then the next one, effortlessly, with no effort, the gravity will simply pull the hands down and the hands will fall. And as they fall, they will hit the side of your ribcage. And to aid the process of falling, you close the palm. Do it like this. Let the hands fall without closing the palms. And now do it with closing the palms. You see, it's easier. When the palms close, the hands fall more naturally. The muscles are contracting, hands fall. This impact with the ribcage that forces out the breath through the nostril. There is no effort here. It's happening just effortlessly.

What people do is they do drama. They do Bhastrika like this. This is all useless. This is all drama. There is nothing to be gained by doing it like this. Nothing. Effortlessly. Bhastrika is done effortlessly.

Ok, let's all do. We'll do two rounds of Bhastrika. Palms in a loose fist in front of the shoulders, elbows tucked in close to the body, neck is relaxed, eyes closed, face forward, normal breath in and breathe out. And following my count, begin up, down, up, down, up, down. And relax. Palms in the lap, facing the sky, body still, attention inward.

Hands in position for second round of Bhastrika. Palms in a loose fist in front of the shoulders, elbows tucked in close to the body, neck is relaxed, face forward, normal breath in and breathe out. And following my count, begin up, down, up, down, up, down. And relax. Palms on the lap facing the sky, body still, attention inward, body still. Take a normal breath in and breathe out. And you may gently open the eyes.

This is Bhastrika, effortless process. Now, what is happening in Bhastrika? See, I explained in the Physics of Pranayama. So you can come back and refresh it. But there are these structures in the lungs called the alveoli. These are tiny nodular structures, and there is a lot of branching that happens. There is a windpipe that comes, and it branches, branches, branches, and then it reaches the alveoli. These tiny branches sometimes get pinched shut. They get closed.

So, what it does is when you have this rapid pressure release like this during Bhastrika, those pinched sections, they open up. Now more of the lungs can be used. In technical parlance, it is called dead volume of the lung or something like that. More of the lungs are used. Then, you don't want those things to crimp back because the pressure has dilated it a little bit.

Then, what you do is, you take a breath in, then you close the anal sphincter muscle, put your hands in Adi Mudra, fists interlock, press down on the groin, shoulders don’t go up, shoulders go back, and you expand the chest. You lock the chin and pull in the navel. When you do that, it creates pressure in the lung. It's like pressurizing that crimped point, and whatever is downstream of the crimped point, prana goes and sits there. It keeps that crimped point open. You hold it for some time and then release. This is the bandha.

These locks are done after Bhastrika because Bhastrika has opened up those crimped points, and then the locks are forcing the tiny increase in pressure. They force that crimped point to open. What I see people doing locks for a long time, they become blue in the face. There is no need. Locks are done for maybe 5-10 seconds. That’s it. Not as a long practice. Then you go... That is not the way to do locks, boss. Locks are to be done very effortlessly like this, and you release. That’s it. Got it. That's the advantage of locks.

0:32:26

Yeah, it takes a sufficiently long time. For some people, that is a couple of days; for some, that is a couple of weeks; for some, that is a couple of months; for some, that is a couple of years; for some, that is a couple of lifetimes. I don’t know. It takes sufficiently long time.

What will happen is others will notice the change in you before you notice the change in yourself. Others will say, "Oh!" By the way, when I say others will notice a change in you, it doesn’t mean that they will tell you, "Oh, you have become so calm." They can tell you, "Oh man, you are becoming worse." That’s also change. Change is simply different from position. Sometimes that will also happen. First, you think your system is becoming worse. You are becoming more angry, more agitated, more... all this stuff will happen. But that is a normal process.

Think about this. How many of you have done cleaning of your house? See, all the girls are putting up their hands, the guys are useless people. They are not putting up their hands. Useless buggers. Come on, go clean your house. You will notice what happens when you clean the house. The house becomes dirty first. All the stuff from the closet comes out, and then it’s all over the place. You think, "What the heck? I am cleaning the house, but it’s becoming more messy." Only then you throw out all the junk, rearrange your closet, and it becomes clean. So maybe you are seeing the messiness. All these processes are getting rid of the stuff inside of you. Maybe the mess is coming out. Be patient.

The only way to get over the house cleaning process is to continue it. You can’t say, "Oh, now I am done. I am finished." Then the house is even more messy. Everything is out of the closet. Like, "What the heck? I was better off when everything was in the closet." No, no. You have to finish the process. So be patient with yourself. And then look, are you genuinely doing your processes properly with honor and respect. Are you doing it without interruption? All these stuff you look at it and periodically you refresh it. You go and sit on a refresher course or you relearn. After some time, maybe you learn some, "Oh wow, I did not remember this," or "I did not do this." Something will happen then you are better off. So don't worry, it will happen and find a backstop. Find your backstop. If you don't know what the heck is a backstop, then alright, that's a different problem. I can be your backstop. Call me. I will be your backstop. So just be patient. Others will notice the change before you do.

0:35:55

Yeah, we already said the focus is not on the counting; it's a suggestion and the body will know when to transition and why it is 3 rounds of 20-40-40 because Bhai ne bola na to karna hai. I don't know the answer. I asked Guruji 2 times. Guruji, why 20-40-40? And in those 2 moments, only 2 moments of my life, I became perfectly hollow and empty. I became perfectly hollow and empty. How do I know that? Because Guruji looked right through me as if I did not even exist. He went right through me.

So I have an idea why it is 20-40-40 and I have an idea why it is 3 times. I am in the process of validating those ideas. I am asking people and they are looking at some ancient textbooks and all this stuff is happening. The moment I know, I will first get it validated by this dude in Bangalore with the black beard and white shawl. I will get it validated from the dude and once he validates it, how do I know he has validated it? He will not say no. Then I know it is validated. Otherwise, he will say no. He doesn't have to say yes. You understand there is a slight difference when you have to get validation from Guruji. He will not say yes. He will say ya. Then you know you are on the right track. Once he does that, then I will tell you.

First people I will call is all these people on the Chai and Why session. Hey dude, I know 20-40-40, 3 times. Why? Come. That will not be a free session. That will be a $1000 session. No, no, I am just kidding. I don't know. I just don't know. Anyway.

0:38:9

No, the diaphragm is not lowest and all that. The diaphragm is a muscle in the body that will, in the normal state, it is expanded and only in some states it will contract. It's a physical partitioning between the thoracic and the abdominal cavity. There is no such thing as lowest and highest. It's a muscle in contraction. It is what it is. Okay. So I don't understand the question. You think if the diaphragm is lowest then you will do Ujjayi breath in that position. Let's say I said your diaphragm is lowest upside down when your head is on the ground and feet are on the sky. You will say alright, great, I am going to do Ujjayi breath like that. No, come on. It's not like that. Okay. Go ahead.

0:39:3

See, it could be also something physical. You could have like a nerve problem or something. So when you are sitting in Vajrasana, there are some pinching that is happening. Could be tingling could be simply because of lack of blood circulation also. Maybe some arteries are getting pinched. I don't know. Look at it. Get it, how do you say, evaluated by a physician or somebody who understands anatomy.

They will feel your leg, and they will do all kinds of things. They will see where the arteries are and all that, and then they will ask you to bend the knee. They will put a finger between that and see what's happening. There are ways to do that. It's not only, "Oh, it's all energy, this, that." It simply could be energy, but most likely, it is not only energy; it is something physical also that is happening. So go and look at it with a physician.

Okay, and then you see. If the physician says there is nothing physically wrong with your leg, normally, if you sit in Vajrasana, they will be able to notice whether the blood is flowing and all that. There are ways to do that. And if that is happening, then you go to some teacher and see. Maybe you are sitting a little bit wrong or something. Or you do a WhatsApp video call with me, and I will see and fix it if I can. But there is no easy answer unless we diagnose it properly. There is no easy answer. I can't say, "Oh, yeah, it's only energy flow." That's not going to be a very genuine answer. I could say that, but I am not going to say that.

0:41:13

How will it change your life if I tell you that? Let's say I say your IQ goes up by seven points. That's the impact on the brain. Let's say I say your liver now becomes, I don't know, 8% more efficient. How does that change your life? I don't understand. If you are doing Pranayama because you have a liver problem, brain fog issue, or whatever the third organ you say, stomach, it is not the intention of Pranayama. The intention of Pranayama is to have mastery over the breath flow so that the stillness, which is the ultimate objective of the eight limbs of yoga, is achieved. It is a path towards achieving stillness, you understand?

Pranayama is a vibration dampener. You might not understand the word vibration, but if you come to the Patanjali Yoga Sutra session, we go into that in excruciating detail. It is a vibration dampener. And when these vibrations are dampened, the Samadhi state becomes achievable. That does not mean that Pranayama is not affecting the organs of the body, but that is not the point of it. It is a by-product of it. If you have liver, brain fog, etc., issues, consult an Ayurveda person. It simply could be a Dosha imbalance affecting it. Check your Doshas. There are other techniques. If Pranayama was a one-stop shop for everything, then all the other sciences of Ayurveda would not exist. There is a whole method behind the madness. This is my answer. Other people tell you differently, but that's my answer.

0:46:15

Oh, you mean the hum, like that, the hum sound. Yeah. At the end of the kriya. Yeah, so you don't do that after short kriya. What is the advantage of hum sound? It's a natural sound. There is a whole story in the Puranas where all the demons were running after or making some chaos and then the divine mother came and the demons came to attack her and all she did was hum and demons were gone. And children do this sound also. When you see your kids when they are not in a very happy place, they will say, "Hum, I am not talking to you." "Hum, I don't like this." That hum sound comes automatically. Hum. Hum. Like this. That hum sound is a release of the feeling of separateness.

Why do you feel not very comfortable? Because you feel that there is separateness between you and something else. When the kids feel that they are not integrated into the whole system, whether they are playing or it's a situation at home or whatever, they will make this hum sound because they don't like this feeling of separateness. That hum sound is made to get back to ease. When the ease goes, that is ego. What is ego? When the ease goes is ego. When the ego raises its head, then the hum sound brings the ease back. And we do that in long kriya because the long kriya is a facilitated process. So there is an instructor in the room. And a lot of magic happens when that sound is taken at that time. I'm not going to answer it here. We will do a refresher. We'll do a Happiness Program Refresher if you want. And then there I will give you all the secrets, but not here. Over a cup of chai, we cannot talk of all these deep things. So that's the reason. So don't do the hum at home. You can do the hum, use it as a technique.

So let's say you want to go and make a presentation to 15 or 20 people. So before you go into the room, you can do this hum, hum, like this. Two or three times and then you go, and you see your talk will be that much more easy. You notice at the beginning of all these sessions, my video is off and the audio is off because I'm doing hum, hum, hum, like this. And then I'm coming to this session. So use it. It's a good process to make you feel natural. Okay.

0:49:8

This is a good problem. So you have to ask yourself, what do you hold on to and what do you let go? You as yourself not other people. Forget about other people. Let's look at you as yourself first. What do you hold on to and what do you let go? When things are not working. You have an idea. You have an idea and you propose that idea to other people and then other people shoot down that idea. Oh, this, that, that, that, that, that, that, that. And then you say, "What? Okay, leave it." Then you have this feeling inside of you that, "I had this great idea, but these jokers, they didn't listen. What the heck? I'm the smartest person in the room and these other losers." All this is going on in your head, isn't it?

So in this time, when all this is going on in your head, what have you let go and what have you kept? You have kept the frustration and you have let go of the idea. This is what has happened, isn't it? The idea has let go, and the frustration has been kept. This is what you have done. Recognize this. Everybody's doing this. If it's happening to you, it is happening to everybody. And in the office situation, it becomes even more critical. Why? Because what are they doing? They are giving preference to image and position versus idea. Why don't they want to do things differently? Because it will make them look bad. That's the bottom line.

The idea may be good, but if it makes them look bad, or if there's a chance that people will perceive that as a failure and think that, "Oh, see, this person is such a failure," that feeling is what is driving them to not listen to the idea. Okay, recognize this. Once you've recognized that, then for you, what is important? Is the image important, or is the idea important? You ever ask yourself, "Why am I saying this? Because do I want accolades from people? 'Oh, what a smart girl, what a smart boy, such a young person, da, da, da.' Do you want that? Or do you want people to listen to your idea? What is it that you want?"

When you are clear about that, that you want people to say, "Shabash, bacha, well done." If you want that, then you behave like that. You will get the "Shabash, bacha, well done." Kudos. But if you want the idea, then you will drop all this stuff and you have to offer the person the idea. You have to make them look good when they do your idea versus not do your idea. Show them how they will look good. Forget the idea. Show them that, "Hey, you want to look good? If you do it like this, like this." See, here are the chances of success. Here is a little bit chance of failure. But if it does fail, here is the fallback. And here is how we can manage the situation if indeed this idea doesn't work. But in the net, here's how it will work. And imagine, it'll look so good if it comes from you because you've got so much experience like this. You give the idea to them, and you see what happens because they are playing for the image. You are playing for the idea. And in the end, the idea always gets tagged to the person who it came from. The universe will take care of that.

Newton got credit for calculus, but Newton never invented calculus. It was Leibniz who invented calculus. We all know; the people who know calculus know it's Leibniz. It's not Newton. Newton formalized it, but it is Leibniz who invented it. Einstein didn't invent space-time. It was invented by some mathematics guy sitting in some obscure school. He wrote all these things in four dimensions, and he showed that in three dimensions, it comes to Maxwell's equations. In four dimensions, it comes to Einstein's space-time. He sent it to Einstein. But in that time, Einstein already had his own way of doing things, but he's not the only guy who came up with it. The idea will come up. The idea will come. Who cares about... Who cares about who? I mean, eventually, you care. The system will know. The system will know who the idea comes from.

The frustration is happening because you're holding on to... You're dropping the idea and holding onto the frustration. What are you holding onto? When things don't work, what are you holding onto? Most of us, we hold onto frustration. We don't hold onto the idea. Just flip it. Hold onto the idea. Make sure the idea doesn't fall. Then the frustration will drop automatically because you're holding onto the idea. And then you will see how to make the idea work. You think it is not frustrating for me? I think the Physics of Pranayama Earth is the best thing since sliced bread. But that is my problem. Other people don't have to think like that. If I hold on to, oh come on, they should put me on a pedestal and the whole world should listen to Physics of Pranayama, I'll be miserable. I'll be a complete wreck in my head. And this nice thing about Physics of Pranayama, nobody will get it because I myself am completely destroyed by my own... Oh people are so stupid, they don't see the value of it. Okay fine, alright.

What's the idea buddy? Physics of Pranayama. Okay fine, let's talk of Physics of Pranayama. I don't know, I can't speak even two sentences of Hindi, but what am I going to do? 90 minutes of session I'm going to do in Hindi. But fine, I'll see. The idea is important. The idea is important. If it makes you look like a fool, you look like a fool, so what? People get it, people learn. You can also do that. You look at it in your life, you've gotten brilliant ideas, you have simply held on to the frustration and the idea has dropped. Every one of us is supremely brilliant. Are you holding on to the idea or the frustration? This is the question you have to ask yourself.

0:56:22

Yeah, the trick about anger is to recognize that. That's the answer. It is recognize that. Recognize the anger. Simply recognize the anger. Are you understanding what I'm saying? You have to recognize that yes, I am angry. Is that what we do? We don't do that. We don't recognize the anger. We say, what do we say? I'm angry because of this. You assign a cause to your anger and you validate the anger. You say my anger is justified because this jackass has not even done the coding right and the whole program is crashing. What the heck?

Okay, you're angry. And what have you done? You've justified it by assigning it to a cause. And then the anger stays with you much longer. The anger is your problem, not the cause problem. You are the problem. The anger is in you. You have to simply recognize, yes, I am angry. And then you will see what happens. Magic will happen. The anger simply drops. When you put your awareness on the anger, not to the cause of your anger, the anger will drop. The cause will still be there. That jackass programmer who has not done the architect correctly is still there. But the anger has dropped. Now you can say, okay, buddy, could we like do it this way? Because now the databases will line up and then the pointers will go in the right place and you can use so many less resources and you make the best program since Google. Don't you want to be a multi-billion dollar company? All right, all that stuff will happen. But there is no anger now. The cause is still there.

You understand? Look at the anger as simply a emotion. Don't assign a cause to it. Then you will see magic will happen. some point, the anger is coming because of lack of acceptance somewhere. You are not okay with this mess. Because we all know, we are the most efficient people. Come on, there is no other person. I am it. I can only think most efficiently. I am the coolest thing. All the other jokers. Nobody. Everybody is thinking like that. Everybody is thinking that. You know Shatrughan Sinha? What did he say? "तीसरा बादशाह हम है।". When he is playing cards in what's that movie? काला पत्थर. "तीसरा बादशाह हम है।" We all think we are king. I am sure you are king. But everybody else is equally king. Look at the idea for what it is. Doesn't matter who is saying the idea. Look at the idea for who it is. Look at the anger for what it is. Doesn't matter who is causing the anger. Look at the anger.

1:0:38

Yeah, it is not easy to do. It is not easy to do. But we have to recognize why is the panic attack coming. Because there is a feeling of helplessness. Panic attack is coming from a feeling of helplessness. And why is the feeling of helplessness coming? Because you cannot do a damn thing. This stupid virus—there is nothing we can do to stop it, yet. So the helplessness is there. How to get over it?

One way to get over it is to recognize and look at your own life. Take five minutes and reflect back in your this lifetime. Forget about previous lifetimes; I'm not even going to go there. This lifetime, look at this feeling of helplessness. You have had it before. You have had it many times: this feeling of utter despair and helplessness. And here you are today. You have somehow gotten past that feeling of helplessness. Have faith in yourself that, yes, since I did it earlier, I will do it again now. There will be something coming; some doors will open which you don't even know there is a door that is opening. That door will open, and this helpless feeling of getting completely boxed in will go away automatically. That door opens, you walk through the door.

Have you watched The Matrix? You knew there was a movie reference coming, right? Have you watched The Matrix? In part three of The Matrix, when the key maker—remember the key maker?—the key maker has the key, and Neo has to find the key maker. He's going through all these zillion doors and he is feeling all frustrated. The feeling of hopelessness is coming that there is no chance. And then something happens in the movie. That something is faith. At that point, there is faith that I have gone through this process before. I will go through it again. That faith will come, and then that helplessness feeling, it will not drop, but it will subside. I am not saying it will drop, but it will subside.

Everybody is feeling this helplessness. It is a true thing. The situation is hopeless for some people. It drives them to commit suicide also. It comes from the feeling of helplessness. It comes from forgetting the fact that you have been in hopeless, helpless situations before. You just have forgotten that there is some power in the universe that is working with you and it has brought you to this position. It does not mean you go into inaction. Action has to be done. All the work has to be done. Sadhana has to be done. Emotional support has to be given to people. You have to be the backstop for people. People are sliding. You have to be the backstop and say, "No, no, I am not going to let you slide. Come on."

It is like Superman. He flies and catches Lois Lane. He tells Lois Lane, "Don't worry, I got you." And she has not seen Superman ever before. She says, "You got me? Who has got you?" So, you have to first find your own backstop who will not let you slide, and then you become somebody else's backstop. You don't let them slide. That is how Sangha moves. Sangha moves by becoming backstop. Everybody becomes backstop for somebody else, and nobody slides back. Everybody only moves forward. This is Satsang. Pick up the phone, call people.

If you know your colleagues are in a feeling of hopelessness, call and talk to them. Just talk to them. Tell them that they are not alone. They are sitting in their house, and they feel that, boss, that's it, done, खत्म। They feel the feeling of hopelessness coming. Doing Sudarshan Kriya is not the answer. Doing Sudarshan Kriya is the necessary condition; it is not a sufficient condition. You have to do Sudarshan Kriya and then action has to come. Kriya, action, you have to get into action. Do the Sudarshan Kriya so you are emotionally in a good place, and then you act. You start supporting people, you do your office work diligently.

Whoever is on your team, when you find that they are not in a very good state, you call them personally, and you don't wait for them to call you. You take your sadhana to their space. You don't wait for them to come to your space. You take your sadhana to their space. This is seva, this is satsang. All of us are empowered to do. You don't have to be a teacher. No. You can do it yourself. Just call. Don't advise them. Don't say, "Oh, you know, you should learn this Sudarshan Kriya process." No, boss. Just be okay with them where they are. Just talk to them. Give them this feeling of "I'm your backstop. I won't let you slide." That's all they are looking for. After that, they will be your biggest fan. They will come and do whatever you ask them to do. But not now. Now is not the time. Don't be a used car salesman. Be a backstop. Stop people from sliding. That much can you do. Yes or no?

1:6:55

Yeah, that is tough. Fear of death. To get rid of the fear of death, you have to simply remember it's inevitable. It is going to happen. There is no way out of it. Nobody has won this battle. This game with yourself and death, death has won 100% of the time. There is not one person who has not died. What is there to be fearful of? It's going to happen. Now, it is going to happen. There is no way to get out of it.

There is no such thing as a time machine. This series called Dark on Netflix is a hocus-pocus nonsense. There is no physics behind it. Don't think, "I will go into a loop and come back in this time zone or that time zone." Not going to happen. You are going to die. Now what? Now what? Why are we afraid of death? You know why we are afraid of death? Because we don't know what is going to happen next. It is the unknown that is making us fearful.

Let's say there is a nice bird. Outside this window, I see a nice bird. And then that bird flies away. Are you unhappy? Why? Because you know that bird is simply gone on its journey somewhere. You might not see that bird ever in your life again, but somewhere there is a continuity in your mind. But when it comes to death, there is no continuity. We don't see the continuity. That is the reason for the fear. Recognize the continuity. Only then will the fear of death go. When you feel that there is a discontinuity and it is a finality, then it is a very fearful situation.

Have you ever done skydiving? I have done it once. I have done skydiving once. And I was quite okay with the whole thing until I came to the edge of the plane where you have to jump off, and I said, "Oh, that fear came." That time there is no thing because the guy behind you is your instructor and he just jumps. And the moment that jump happens from the plane, you know that it's the best thing ever. But that transition of being inside the plane to outside the plane, that fear that comes right like that, that is the discontinuity feeling. You know that this is going to be a discontinuous process and that is the fear. But at the end of it, it's such an amazing experience. I mean, you do skydiving, you have this... You cannot feel. I mean, you are falling at 9.81 meters per second squared. Gravity is taken over. But there is no nothing. You cannot feel because there is no reference point. And then suddenly, the parachute opens and then you can feel everything because now everything is slowed down. And then you can see everything.

It is like that. You know it's a continuous process. If you don't know, then you have to believe that it's a continuous process. That's the only way of overcoming the fear of death. And it's an inevitable process. It's going to happen.

1:11:31

Yeah, pranayama can definitely help. COVID is a respiratory problem. Pranayama is strengthening the respiratory system. Of course, pranayama will help. We are teaching it. Guruji has allowed us to teach it to the frontline physicians and all that. There are people who are teaching it. We are teaching it to the physicians. It's going to be amazing. You'll see.

1:12:1

Yeah, so for that you have to understand these things called impressions and vasanas and vrittis and all this other stuff. Which we can understand in the Patanjali Yoga Sutra session. And then you'll understand why intuition works for kids and not that well for adults. It is the conundrum of conditioning versus unconditioning. But without understanding the Patanjali Yoga Sutra, you will not understand this.

1:13:0

Yeah, so you have to meet them where they are. You have to ask them what is it that they understand about being spiritual. What does it mean? I think what they mean is being religious. Being religious and being spiritual are two different things. You have to ask them what it means for them. And then look at your own life. Have you gone overboard with all your post-Art of Living stuff? Ask yourself. Do they consider you a normal person before and after the course? Have you become preachy? Have you become, I don't know, cuckoo? Have you done random things in their eyes that are random?

Look at the impressions that you are creating for them. Then you will understand where they are coming from. Meet them where they are. Ask them what are you afraid of? They will say you have become a sadhu or a sanyasi. I don't know if it is a boy or a girl. They think that you will wear orange clothes and have a Rudraksha mala or something. Some Bhasma or something on the head. That's what they are afraid of. But you see.

You have to look at yourselves. First, you have to understand from their side whether they are confusing spirituality with religion. This is what most people do. They think that you become a Sadhu Baba, religious. Spirituality is what? It is the journey on the path of the spirit. Religion is a dogmatic set of rules which, in its pure form, was not different from spirituality. Spirituality and religion in its pure form is the same. But in the distorted form, religion becomes dogma, and spirituality is still the pursuit of the spirit.

What are they afraid of? Are they afraid that you are going to pursue the spirit, or are they afraid that you are going to become religious? We have to answer that question, not directly like this. In your actions, you have to show them that you are a normal person. There is nothing different. What happens is you learn this Sudarshan Kriya, etc., process, and then you hear some of Guruji's words and all that, and then you become a loudspeaker of all this so-called knowledge. You become a supplier of knowledge. Knowledge is not to supply; it is to apply. Knowledge is to apply.

What we do is we become suppliers of knowledge. Stop that supply business. Apply first. You hear the knowledge, you apply. You hear the knowledge, you apply. You hear the knowledge, you apply. You stop supplying. When you stop supplying, then you see, when you apply the knowledge, your life becomes full, you are more efficient, you are dynamic, you have got more positivity than negativity. But when you supply and when you supply, they don't see all that stuff that you are supplying. Then they say, "Kya hai? What the heck are you doing? You are just as useless as I am, so just shut up." This is the problem.

Can you stop supplying? The first step is to apply and not supply. Can you do this much? Then you see, your parents will be your biggest fan. They let you do anything as long as they know that you are becoming a better person.

1:17:48

That is your feeling, isn't it? That life has not been fair to you. So, there are two ways to come out of this kind of situation. It is coming from myopic view. You understand what is myopic view? Myopic view means limited point of view. Just this much you see. When you are in a myopic point of view, you can rationalize these things and say, "Oh, you know, all these bad things happened to me and da da da da, and all my parents and da da da da." So you are in a myopic point of view. You simply have to expand your point of view. You have to get a broader perspective and see, is the universe singling you out, or is the same situation happening for many, many, many other people? Are those other people's situations even worse than yours for most of the time?

The universe is not singling you out. It feels like it. It definitely feels like it that the universe is out to get me. But is that the case? You ask yourself, objectively, is that the case? Are you the worst possible person that the universe is just picking on you? The answer is no. And then what to do about it? Work on yourself, your skill set.

See objectively where is the lack? Supplement that lack somehow. You are feeling lack somewhere. Otherwise, you will be happy. People lose their smile. Why? Because they feel a lack की यार ये चाहिये, इतना। "चाँद तारे तोड़ लाऊ, सारी दुनिया पर बिछाऊ, बस इतना सा ख्वाब हैं।" Where is the lack in your life? Are you identifying with the lack in your life? Are you identifying with the "poor me" situation? "ओह यार, बेचारी मैं, काम के बोझ की मारी।" What are you looking for? हमदर्द का टॉनिक सिंकारा। I will give you हमदर्द का टॉनिक सिंकारा। Is that going to fix your life? No. You have to look at it. Where am I stuck?

Most of the time, we are not acting because there is no clarity in our mind. What is it we want? What is it that you want? Are you clear? What is it that you want? No. You are not clear. How is the universe going to give you what you want? You yourself are not clear in your head what you want. How is it going to come to you? Impossible. Where is the clarity? I want this.

1:21:56

Ok. Let's look at it this way. You exist today because two people got married. Yes or no? So you are asking yourself, is my existence a necessity? Is it? Is your existence a necessity? No. The world will spin even if you are not here. It is not a necessity at all.

Now... It is not so simple. It is not so simple as saying, is marriage a necessity? Marriage is a institution. Marriage is an institution that is created to bring some order in society. If we were living in the jungle where there is no institution of marriage, then it will be chaos. Then all this development that we have and all this other stuff, the comforts of the home and invention of electricity and steam engine, and then all these things, iPhone and Samsung phone and Galaxy whatever the heck phone, Zoom calls and Chai and Why sessions, and all these things would not have happened if there is no order brought to society.

Driving rules are essentially an order. It is a way of moving from one place to other in a way so that there is some semblance of order. Traffic lights go on and off and all that stuff. Rules are there, licenses are there. It is an order. Like that, marriage is a institution that brings some order. Order to what? Order to two people coming together, having sex, and leading to the next set of DNA that is created so that the gene can propagate. This is the drive. The driver is that. If people had not had sex and the genes would not have been propagated from one generation to the other, you and I would be here today. It is a fact. Isn't it? So does that mean that the institution of marriage is useless?

No. The institution of marriage brings some order to the chaos. It's a way of bringing order. Now, does that mean that everybody has to get married? No. Some people don't have to get married. It depends on what you want. Are there benefits to marriage? Yes. There is an order, there is a belongingness, there is somebody who is close to you, your thoughts and ideas are targeted towards that person, makes you a better person overall. There is some give and take, and there is an acceptance that happens. All this stuff happens in the process of marriage.

There is emotional stability that comes, emotional support comes, so many things come. Now, if you don't want any of this stuff and you don't believe all this is all humbug, foo-fa stuff, then don't get married. Don't make a drama out of it. You see, what is it that you want? What is it that you want? Do you want to have children? Yes. Is marriage necessary to have children? Definitely not. Would you like to live like that? Your choice. Choice is completely yours.

If everybody lived like you as a maverick, saying, "Oh, I don't care about marriage, I don't care about this," then it would be chaos. It would be simply chaos. And then you will curse that as, "Oh, this is all chaotic, it was better that it was marriage," and then you oscillate. You have to see what is it that you want. There is a reason why marriage is there. I explained it. Now, what is it that you want? When your parents have looked at life from one way, if you are looking at life from the other way and they are not seeing the same as you, then you have to be patient and you have to just talk it out with them and explain this is how you feel. Sometimes you will be wrong, sometimes they will be right. Who knows?

1:27:11

No. Think about it. If everybody does pranayama and yoga, nobody has sex, that's it. The species comes to a standstill. Then how are you going to achieve the self and all this other stuff? You have to understand where it is coming from. See the base, the energy is rising. When the energy rises, there is a creative aspect to it and there is a pro-creative aspect to it. Both are happening. Because there is a pro-creative aspect to it is why you and I exist. If nobody had pro-created, this conversation would not happen.

But is that the only thing? No. Once the pro-creation is done, now what do you do when the energy rises? You can still go towards the pro-creation mode, you can keep having sex. Then you are stuck. There is no growth there. But when you say, "Alright, now I am going to be celibate, I will let the energy rise," then what happens? It goes and does other things. Joy comes, fulfilment comes, gratitude comes, intelligence comes, good ideas come, then progress happens. But that does not mean that the pro-creative part of that energy is of no use. It is there to sustain. It is a part of sustaining. It is a question of aeshna.

Sex is the deepest impression. You are born out of it. It is the deepest impression. But that is not the only impression. There are others. Once that has happened, then you go ahead. The problem is people get stuck to that. They get stuck to the sex part of it. Then the energy does not rise. Then you are living a basal life, completely low level. So there is no good or bad. It is just how you use it. It is a tool kit. It is a tool in the tool kit. That energy has to be directed some way and then used in some other. That's it.

1:29:58

This is a catch-22 situation. If I say yes, there is a difference, then you'll say, "Oh yaar, I have to get up at Brahma Muhurtha and do." Then it becomes more of a headache. If I say no, then you'll say, "Oh, okay, it doesn't matter. Brahma Muhurtha is useless." No, it's not like that.

You can do your sadhana if you want during Brahma Muhurtha, and all that, it's fine. Or if you can't do it, it's fine also. There's no like, if you do it at Brahma Muhurta time, then you can do it only once every second day, don't have to do it every day. And if I do it during non-times, then I have to do it. It's not like that. There are conducive times to do these processes. And if you can time it like that effortlessly, do it. If not, that's fine. Don't worry about all this stuff.

1:31:13

Yeah, so होते-होते रुकने का क्या है? Two things are required for anything to bear fruit. One is effort, and the second is the time has to be right. Sometimes the time is not right, so होते होते रुक जाता है काम। The time is not right; effort is right. So, at that time, you have to have patience. Work patiently and don't focus on the result. Focus on the work. The focus is on the action, not on the result of the action. The result is there; you are directing the action towards the goal. Don't focus on the result, action करो तुम, do the work. And then the time is right, it will come.

Time is a big mystery. This whole thing about time, I cannot explain here. So don't worry. Sometimes it will happen, sometimes it will happen without doing the work. That also has happened because the time was right.

1:32:58

Why you want to be extrovert? Because you think extroverts are all cool people? You want to be cool. That's the point. Boss, I am so cool. Wear a cap, you become cool. Why do you want to be an extrovert? Have you ever thought why you want to become an extrovert? Because somewhere you think extroverts are cooler people than introverts.

The one reason why you think that they are cooler people than introverts is because they are by definition extroverts. So they are projecting outward, and people are looking at all that stuff and they think, "क्या बात है?" I will ask you this question: you think I am an extrovert or an introvert? Tell me. What do you think? Write your answer in the chat. You think I am an extrovert or an introvert? See, it's almost 50-50. Okay, now you tell me. You think that I am natural or unnatural?

See, now you tell me, what do you want to be? Introvert, extrovert, or natural? What do you want to be? Supernatural. Yeah, be natural, buddy. Be natural. Remember, "Accept People…" Three fingers are pointing towards you. You accept yourself first. Without accepting yourself, nothing can happen. Accept yourself, doesn't mean to be okay to be introvert. Be natural. The naturalness will come. When you are natural, automatically, you will start connecting with people. Not going out of your way to connect, but if somebody wants to connect with you, you are okay with that. This is the meaning of being natural. You are okay with it. You are a self-reflecting introverted person, but when some people come in front, you are okay to do that also. Okay, so be natural.

1:37:23

Yeah, it is becoming a mechanical process. Because why? You are not getting anything. That's what's happening. This feeling of not getting anything is coming. You don't even know what you are getting. That's the whole point. It's working on other levels that are not even within your awareness. Those levels are so subtle. So just keep doing Kriya. Do it with dedication, honor, respect. What you have learned in the Physics of Pranayama session, the proper way of doing it, do it like that with honor and respect. Then you will see. You will see what you get. It will be beyond all the physical things you get. There will be so many other ways that you will get.

1:38:31

Mantra chanting is a big study in itself. So maybe we will not do it now because it is quite a deep topic. What mantras do and the intonation and all that stuff. So how about we take it later? We will do a session on only mantra chanting.

1:39:6

Oh! You want to learn Ujjayi breathing? Okay. Switch on your videos. I will teach you Ujjayi breathing. I need to see people. Because talking to just photos of people is so boring. Would you like it if I do like this? Let's do like this. Is it okay if I teach like this? No? Okay, so now we will learn Ujjayi breath. In 5 minutes, I will teach you Ujjayi breathing.

So, Hollywood made a series of movies. You knew it was coming from the movies. Come on. मिया की दोड़ मस्जिद तक। Where will I go? I will only talk about movies. Hollywood made 3 movies. Not 3 movies. Many movies. But they totally buggered up the order of it. They made part 3, 4, and 5 before they made parts 1, 2, and 3. Remember which one? Star Wars. Have you seen Star Wars? First, they made episodes 3, 4, and 5. Then they made episodes 1, 2, and 3. My mind was completely upside down. I was like, what the hell? It's already difficult. Which character does what? And on top of that, you guys changed the order.

In Star Wars, there is this guy: black helmet, black jacket, black cape. That guy is called Darth Vader. Yes? Remember Darth Vader? Now if Darth Vader comes and stands in front of you and hopefully he is your friend, he will say to you, "Hello." He will say "Hello" like that. But how will he say "Hello"? He will say like this: "Hello." Now you all speak like Darth Vader. "Hello." Slow it down now. "Hello." Slow down. "Hello." Do it. "Hello." Now say it coming in. "Hello." Now close the mouth and say "Hello" going out. "Hello." Close the mouth and say "Hello" going out. "Hello." Mouth is closed. "Hello." Now bring it back in with the same sound. "Hello." Mouth is closed. "Hello." That's it. That's Ujjayi breath. What is it? Isn't it so easy?

They made millions and billions of dollars stealing Ujjayi breath from us. We don't even know how to use Ujjayi breath. Come on. So easy. You breathe from the back of the throat as slow as you can. "Breathing." That's Ujjayi breath. What is the problem?
