Physics of Bhastrika

So, what happens in Bhastrika is, firstly, I see people doing Bhastrika a little bit wrong. I'll show you how most people do Bhastrika. Okay, I'll demonstrate. They will take their hand like this. Hand doesn't even go up straight. One hand goes here, one hand goes there. Some like this. And then, with some effort, they will do Bhastrika. This is not Bhastrika.

Bhastrika में कुछ effort नहीं है। Bhastrika में क्या है: hands are closed in a fist in front of the shoulders. Okay. And then, when they go up, the palms will open. Palms will open. So, if you don't know whether to open the palms or not, think that you are going to reach for a pot of gold. The only way to catch that gold is to open the palms. So, this way, you know that the palms have to open. Okay. And then, the arms simply fall by gravity. There is no force. No force is there in Bhastrika. Arms simply fall by gravity. Gravity is going to pull the arms down. And when the arm comes down, the palms close and then the elbows hit the rib cage. And when you hit the rib cage, automatically the breath is forced out. There is no effort. Right. There is no effort. You see, my face is not all distorted. There is no effort. 

And why Bhastrika works is because whenever there is a pressure wave, when there is a fast decompression of pressure, some other stuff gets released. For example, if you take a tub of water and you put a bath towel in there, you put a towel in that water and when you remove the towel, what will happen? The water will start dripping. Right. So then, you don't want the water to drip. So you squeeze the towel. You squeeze the towel like that and then you see, oh, water is not dripping now. Good. But now you take the towel and you make a jerky movement like this. Like that. You know, fast. When you do that, what happens? You suddenly see mist of water. Yes or no? You have seen that. You see mist of water. That is because of the sudden change in pressure because of that jerky motion, that extra water comes out of that towel as a mist. 

Same thing is happening in Bhastrika. When you are releasing the pressure rapidly, extra CO2 comes out of the lungs, of the blood. Extra CO2 is removed from the blood and that is expelled in the breath. This is the power of Bhastrika. So, a lot more toxins are released because of the sudden decompression of pressure. And once you finish that Bhastrika round, all that extra stuff that has come out, you want prana to go and sit in that extra stuff that has come out. So you finish Bhastrika and if you have done the advance course, you take a breath in and you apply the locks. The locks are applied after Bhastrika because in Bhastrika you are removing all that extra stuff. So all that place that you have created, you want prana to sit there. So that is why you apply the locks. You know, you put Adhi Mudra like this, anal sphincter muscle, navel, and throat. You lock it. So that all that extra stuff that has been removed in Bhastrika, prana goes and sits there.

That is why you do locks after Bhastrika, not before. Before करके क्या फ़ायदा? there is no place for that prana to sit. तो लॉक करके, what's the point? That is why it is done after Bhastrika. Got it? This is the physics of Bhastrika. So easy. 

As we lie down after Long Kriya is it necessary to lie down after Short Kriya or can we directly do our Sahaj?

So, there are two things going on here. When you do short kriya with Guruji's voice, like we are doing every Thursday morning, at that time, you lie down. When you are doing short kriya on your own at home practice, then there is no need to lie down. After short kriya, immediately after you take 20-40-40-3 times, you end with 5 long circles, and then you immediately go into Sahaj. You don't have to lie down. Is this clear?

So, there are two things. If you are doing short kriya with Guruji's voice, you have to lie down. If you are doing long kriya with Guruji's voice, you have to lie down. You do not do Sahaj after doing kriya with Guruji's voice. Is this clear? For most people, it's not clear for them. I am going to make it very clear. When you are doing your home practice, you don't have to lie down. After kriya, you go into meditation.

What are the benefits of doing 3-Stage Pranayama and Bhastrika in Vajrasana?

The reason we do 3-stage pranayama and Bhastrika in Vajrasana is because when you do 3-stage pranayama and Bhastrika, you need to keep the back straight. The physics of keeping the back straight is that the knees have to be below the level of your hip. So, like I am sitting on the chair, if I sit on the edge of the chair, then my knees will fall below the level of the seat of the chair. Now my back becomes straight because now my knees have gone below the level of the hip. So my back becomes straight. Same thing happens in Vajrasana. In Vajrasana what happens, the knees are on the floor. When you are doing Vajrasana, the knees are on the floor. The hip is on your heels. You are sitting on the heels. So the hip is on the heels. So the hip is above the knee. That's it. Then your back becomes straight.

How to get Short Kriya in Guruji’s voice?

No, when you are in Advanced course, hollow and empty, you simply follow Guruji's instructions. He will say, become aware of the breath going in the nostril. So you become aware. And if you don't become aware, you don't become aware. You don't have to put any effort there. He will say, bring the attention to the navel. Something like that. And if you don't have to visualise your navel ki navel किधर हैं? some people touch the navel and say, “अच्छा नेवल इधर हैं। Nose इधर हैं।” You don't have to touch all that. Simply, you sit. Boss, it took me three courses, it took me three advanced courses, to figure out that the tip of my nose is right on my face. It is not here somewhere outside; It is right here. इधर हैं, यहा पे। It is very difficult to know where the tip of your nose is for most people.

Can I do SKY before going to bed?

You wake up and you do your Kriya. Finished. Don't tell me you don't have time. You don't have time. You know why you don't have time? Because it's not a priority for you. If you make it a priority for you, you will find the time. The reason you don't have time is because it is not a priority for you.

Is mind and consciousness the same?

No. Mind and consciousness is not the same. Mind is a very specific part of consciousness. It is a subset. Consciousness is vast. Mind is very narrow compared to what consciousness is.

What is the significance of transition breath?

So, the two breaths in and out before you start, let's say, pranayama stage or Bhastrika stage, is like, you know, in… You know, you are… What was I going to say? Have you seen Sachin Tendulkar come to bat?

He will walk in. Like he is the king of the cricket. He is god of cricket. So he will come to bat. And he just doesn't stand there कि, हाँ! चल डाल बॉल। He will take a stance. He will take the... He will mark his leg stump, he will do all this tuk-tuk thing, and he will properly have a stance with his elbow pointing towards the bowler. It's called the stance. The stance in cricket is like the two breaths before the pranayama starts. It's just getting the body ready to bat. It is getting the body ready to do pranayama, to do Bhastrika. It's the stance. If the god of cricket takes a stance, you and I can take two breaths before starting pranayama. It is the stance. You have to get the body ready. That is the reason for those... It's called transition breath. You have to transition to the pranayama.

Though I am consistent in my Sadhana but unable to manage my anger. How do I manage or control my anger?

See, why do you get angry? Have you noticed? Have you thought of why we get angry? We only get angry when things don't go according to our way of doing things. That's the only time you get angry. If things are going exactly how you want them to go, you will not get angry. Right? So you are getting angry because your way of doing things and the way things are happening are... There is a disconnect between that. That is why the anger is coming. So firstly you have to recognize that there is a disconnect. The first step to getting out of anger is to recognize that it is there first. So when the anger comes, you just look at it. You drop everything else. You don't worry about the cause of your anger. You look at the anger itself, की अच्छा कहाँ है? Where is the anger? Where am I feeling it? You look at it in your own self, की कहाँ है anger and then you will find something amazing will happen. When you start looking at the anger, the anger just goes away. The anger cannot stay when it is looked at. Guruji has said this very nicely. He says, "When attention is given to something, the false falls away and the truth rises." It is only by attention. When you pay attention to what is happening, the false will fall away and the truth will rise. Anger is a falseness. Anger is a distorted form of love. Upside-down love is anger. A distorted form of love. So when you look at it, the distortion drops. I am not saying you will be in love but you will not be in anger. The only way to get through the anger is to look at it. Don't assign it to a cause. “Oh, this cup is making me angry. This phone is making me angry. This person is making me angry." No. You are angry. That's it. The निमित्ता, the cause of the anger, is not important. You are angry. You just look at your anger and it will drop. And you have to do it punah-punah. Again and again. It's an abhyasa. It's a practice. Then eventually it does not happen.

Who made the divine?

Ya. We will answer that question when we get to it. It is unknowable. That's the trick. It is unknowable. When you say Divine is proved, you are thinking that from your intellect you will rationalize the Divine. To even understand what the Divine is, you have to move past your intellect. See, the Divine is like the house. The Divine is like the house. The intellect is like the guard dog. The guard dog around your house is the intellect. To come inside your house, you have to go past the guard dog. You have to throw some bones to the guard dog. You say, "हाँ बच्चा! खाले ये सब।" And when that dog is eating that bones, you go into the house. If you are stuck with the guard dog, "I have to figure out what the Divine is." You will be only in the garage. You will never come inside the house. So, this is what. It is unknowable. It is unknowable only on the level of the intellect. It is knowable on the level of the feeling.

During SKY, on which part of our body we have to focus?

During Sudarshan Kriya, you do not focus on any part of the body. You simply let it happen. Whatever is happening, you let it happen. I see some people doing Kriya in Chin Mudra like this. The hands are in Chin Mudra. No, that is wrong. Hands are in Mahamudra. Hands are just flat, open palms facing the sky. That is the position of the hands. And whatever happens to the body and mind, let it happen during Kriya. Simply you have to breathe in that rhythm. That's it.

What is the significance of 40 days Kriya?

So, for any habit, for any good habit to establish itself, it takes some time. Usually 20 days. So, we say do it for 40 days. So, out of those 40 days, at least 20 days you will do. That's the advantage of doing 40 days of Kriya.

How can I see everything beyond my limited beliefs and concepts?

It will help if you do at least once a week Kriya with Guruji's voice. That will reset the rhythm on you. Otherwise, like I explained in Physics of Pranayama, there is a drift. There is a sky drift that will happen. So slow, medium and fast will become medium, fast and super fast. फिर, then you are in trouble. The problem is you won't even know that it has become medium, fast and super fast. Only somebody else will tell you. "अरे यार, क्या कर रहा है?" "I am doing fine." No, that's not fine. You already drifted. So once a week you have to do Kriya with Guruji's voice. We are doing every Thursday morning at 6 o'clock. "तो एक दिन जल्दी उठना पड़ेगा थोड़ा तपस्या करके।" You can do Kriya with Guruji's voice.

Best way to take your body and mind from Rajasic to Satvik?

Yeah. So this is the, this question number 18 is a standard problem. You know why we do seva? Seva is a very selfish act. Seva is done only for yourself. This might sound very weird to you. No, no, no. I'm doing seva for someone else. No, you're not doing seva for someone else. Your seva is only for yourself. How do you get skill in action? To get your skill in action, you have to do seva. Seva is skill in action. To hold more grace in you, you have to do seva. What is grace? Grace is like, you know, it's like a flowing river. When the river is flowing and you are swimming in the direction of the water, you go effortlessly very far. This is your experience. If the river is flowing and you're swimming in the direction of that river, you go very far. Couple of strokes, you go like one mile away. That is grace. Flowing in the direction of the flowing water is grace. Flowing against the direction of the flowing water, Sometimes you do work, work, work, work. Nothing happens because you're flowing against. There is no grace to support your flow. So to hold the grace, you have to have a certain volume in your container. So let's say your container, your bowl size is this much. कितना भी, how much ever waterfall you are, you put that hand under the waterfall, how much water is left in your hand? Only how much your bowl can hold. Only that much water is left in your hand. No matter how much water is flowing in the waterfall. The only way to hold more water is to have a bigger bowl. That's the only way. How do you increase the size of your bowl? Seva. Skill in action is the only way to increase the size of the bowl. Now you tell me, this whole size of the bowl, whose bowl is increasing in size? Your bowl. Whose action is getting more refined? Your action. In the end it is you who are benefiting. So seva is a highly selfish task. You are doing seva for yourself. I am doing it for somebody else. Oh I am so great. You are a selfish person. If you are doing seva you are a selfish person. But you have to do. You have to be selfish because it is your journey. There is no comparison. The problem is you are comparing yourself with other people. There is no comparison. The comparison is only with yourself and the version of yourself of yesterday. That is the only comparison. आज और कल। That's it. Not even परसों। परसों is also too late. Yesterday and today is the only comparison. And you are only working with yourself. That's it. Forget about other people. Oh they have got expectations. Okay this is their expectation. It is not your problem.

Why is it that I prefer darker shades on some particular occasions and Blue shades on some other occasions?

Okay tell me this. Have you looked at a sunrise? When you look at a sunrise, let's say if you are lucky enough the sky is not all hazy and polluted, etc. When you have a clear sky, look at the sunrise. Some days it is bright orange. The sun is amazing. Like when it is just rising, it is all orange. Lots of orange. You know why it is orange? That is because all the blue has been dispersed out. All the VIBGYOR colours: violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange, red. All those blues, violet, indigo and blue have been dispersed. What disperses it? Water. Water in the atmosphere disperses the blue colour. Therefore, you see an orange in a red sunrise. Blue wavelengths disperse maximum. That is why the sky is blue. The sky is blue because the blue wavelength is dispersed completely. The red wavelength does not disperse that much. That is why the sky is blue. So that is the reason why most people wear light colours. Because white is the one that reflects everything. Everything is reflected in white. Black is the one where nothing is reflected. Therefore, it is black. Blue is a colour where it reflects most of the highly dispersive wavelengths. That is why it is blue. So, it is a joke. Why do we wear a blue shirt? I don't have to wear a blue shirt. Today, I am not wearing a blue shirt. It is a green shirt. It is not even a shirt. It is like one of those full sleeve type things. So, don't worry about darker, lighter, all those are concepts. Whatever you feel right, you wear that colour. There is nothing wrong in any colour.

Why do we turn to the right side before getting up after SKY?

What happens is there are two main nadis in our system. One is called the Surya Nadi and one is called the Chandra Nadi. This is left and right. When you roll over onto your right side, the left nadi gets activated and that left nadi is an indication of the body to transition from rest to activity. Because when you are doing Kriya, when you are lying down, you are in a state of deep rest and now you don't want to suddenly get up. So, you have to tell the body that you start all the processes that have to happen to go from rest to activity. That is why you roll over onto the right side. Then the body knows. It starts all its stuff, all the subconscious processes. And then you get up. So the converse is also true. When you're going to sleep at night, you have to tell the body to transition from activity to rest. So you start by sleeping on your left side. You have to start by sleeping on your left side. And after that, if you lie on the back or on your stomach, all that is okay. But you have to start by leaning over on your left side when you're going to sleep. Then the body knows. I have to now move from activity to rest. All that stuff that happens in rest, all the clean up and all the replenishing of cells, and all this other subconscious stuff, will automatically start. That is the reason for leaning over to the right side.

Why does SKY or Yoga or any such activity become mechanical after some time?

Why does it become mechanical? Question 21. It becomes mechanical because you have lost honor and respect for it. You're taking it for granted. That is the only reason it has become mechanical. It is the same Kriya. It is the same pranayama. It is the same. Every day it is the same. It is your outlook towards it that is changing. So recognize that पहले तो।. “Oh, my outlook is changing. I'm taking it for granted.” Most people do that. That is why Patanjali has said, “Honor and respect. सः , तु , दीर्घ , काल , नैरन्तर्य , सत्कार , आसेवित: , दृढ , भूमिः॥” Honor and respect without interruption for a sufficiently long time. Then the practice is established. So it is your point of view that is changing. It is not the practice that is becoming mechanical. It is your way of looking at the practice is becoming mechanical. You've lost the honor and respect.

It's like this. Let's say you have a fruit tree in your house. And when the fruit tree was a baby tree, you used to put all the fertilizer and water it every once a week. And the fruit tree went and grew over five years. Now it's giving you fruits. Let's say apple or oranges or something. Now you're so happy with the fruits that you forget to water the tree. What will happen in the tree? It will stop giving you fruit. This is what happens in your practice. You take it for granted. You don't water it with the honor and respect. It will stop giving you the fruit. Choice is yours. Do you want the fruit? Yeah. Then you have to water the tree also, which means you will do it with honor and respect.

What is the Physics behind Omkar?

Do you guys really want to know about Omkar? It is amazing, the Om thing. I don't think… you guys are all sleepy. It's so late in the night. कितना बजा? 9 o'clock. छोड़ दे ना। All Omkar and all! Who cares? Right? What do you think? Should we do? Neelu, what do you want to say? I'll do whatever Neelu says. Because she's like too cool.

Okay. So Omkar. Why do we say Omkar three times? See what happens in Om? It's made up of three sounds: Aa, Ooo and Um. That's all you know in the class. And you know that Aa vibrates a little bit lower than the Ooo, and the Um vibrates a little bit higher than the Ooo. So Ooo is in the middle, Aa is below it, Um is above it. That's the order of vibration in the body. It could move up and down but that's the order in general.

So, when you say "Om", just by saying "Om", you start the vibrations starting from the bottom of your body to the top of your body. So, the energy stroke automatically happens upward. You start the energy to flow upward. If you have done the silence course, if you have done the advanced course, there is a distinction between what happens when the energy flows up versus what happens when the energy flows down.

Remember, the point on the forehead, when the energy flows up, that same point on the forehead manifests as alertness. When the energy is flowing down, that same point on the forehead manifests as anger. Anger and alertness are the two sides of the same energy, either its upstroke or downstroke. So like this, more positive things happen when the energy is flowing up versus down. This is all advanced course stuff. So, go take the advanced course. You will refresh your understanding. That's why we say "Om". Energy starts moving up.

That's not the cool part of "Om". The cool part of "Om" is, in the old... Okay, have you watched the movie Harry Potter? Yes or no? Do you know what I'm talking about? Harry Potter? Somebody is waiting. What is going on with him? You know Harry Potter, right? तो Harry Potter में क्या हैं, the first time when Harry goes to Hogwarts, there is a sorting hat. That sorting hat is put on the person's head and then that hat decides whether he goes to Slytherin or he goes to, I don't know what the other houses are, all this. Remember that? The sorting hat?

So in the old days, the Guru would let the Shishya's chant "Om" because the Shishya's were very highly sensitive people. They had done so much sadhana etc. So the Guru would make them chant "Om" and each Shishya would vibrate on a certain time of their life. You know, it's for us also. At some point in our life we are creative. In some point in our life we just take care of things and in some point in our life we totally destroy something and make it new. Our tendency is also like that.

So the Guru would chant, make the Shishya chant "Om" and where the highest vibration is happening, they would get that seva. So if a guy is in a more creative way, they will get to say, okay, how can we make this better? If the guy is in a more sustaining, if the “Ooo” is vibrating stronger, they are in a sustaining mode. So they will be given housekeeping and maintenance type seva. That will keep the ashram going. And some people whose vibration is on the top, completely transformative, they will say, find what is not working, break it down and make it new. The Guru would give the seva according to where the vibration is.

But today our vibration is so screwed up, our vibration is only governed by the ring of the cell phone. यहा पे हम लोग अटक जाते हैं। We have no idea of where the heck this "Om" is vibrating. Phone बजा zzzzz, you will say, “WhatsApp.” “कोन करा?” Then you are stuck. Your vibration is on the phone level. Forget about "Om".

So this is a trick of "Om". It is amazing. "Om" is just brilliant.

Where will this regular practice of SKY take us to?

Nowhere, man. You will be right there. Where you start doing your Kriya, at the end of the Kriya, you will be right there. उधर ही। Physical space में। You are not going to go anywhere else. You will be right there. But emotionally, emotionally you will throw away all the baggage. You will become lighter. You will start tuning into more “the intelligence.”

Speak in Hindi! अरे यार, ठीक है चलो हिंदी। Yeah, so where do you want to go? आपको कहा जाना है? क्रिया करके where do you want to go? You tell me that. Answer the question. Whoever wrote question number 23. Or forget who wrote it. Where do you want to go? You guys tell me. आपको क्रिया और पद्मसाधना करके कहा जाना है? समझ में तो आए पहले where do you want to go? Tell me.

Why? Why? Why do you want all this? Okay, why do you want spiritual growth? Why do you want nothing? Why do you want nothing? Happy. Yeah, exactly. You only want happiness. That's the only answer.

And that you will get when you do Padmasadhana, Kriya. You will get happiness. बाक़ी तुमको क्या चाहिए और? Bliss, Vliss, these are only labels. You know the donkey का story where the guy puts a carrot on the stick and the donkey wants to eat the carrot so he keeps walking? वैसा है ये, bliss. वो ऐसे लटका है carrot. भागते रहो तुम लोग। You don't want bliss, Baba. You want happiness. You simply want happiness. Bliss will come on its own. Whenever it is ready to come, it will come. You are simply wanting happiness. That's it.

Look at your life. Everything you do is only to feel happy. है कि नहीं? Yes or no? फिर, keep it simple yaar. क्या इतना सब complicated करते हो life को तुम लोग? It's enough complicated as it is. Corona, एक छोटा सा मच्छर, है ना? Remember Nana Patekar's dialogue? एक मच्छर…। वैसा एक वायरस…। I mean whole world has come to bloody stand still.

I am doing Kriya but I am not Happy!?

Yeah. Are you sure you are not happy? Are you making a drama of it? I don't know. Arvind Kumar. See what we don't know is, so there is this question from Arvind Kumar. I am doing Kriya but I am not happy. That is in this timeline. Let's say I make an alternate timeline like Star Trek. Let's say I call it the Spock timeline. In the Spock timeline, Arvind Kumar does not do Kriya. What is the state of Arvind Kumar in the Spock timeline? We don't know. He could be a stark raving lunatic in that timeline. He will be so like, God knows what will happen. We don't know the alternate timeline.

You are saying I am doing Kriya but I am not happy. You don't know what you would be if you did not do Kriya. You don't have that reference point. So you cannot say you are not happy. You cannot even say that you are happy. I agree with you. You feel that you are not happy. But that is a feeling problem.

Don't take shortcuts. Just be patient with yourself. Do not take shortcuts. Keep doing Kriya. Tendulkar did not become Tendulkar एक रात में। Achrekar Sir had to make him bat. खेलते रहो शाला। Taka-tak, taka-tak, taka-tak, कितना cover drive मारा पहले। Then he could face Brett Lee and all these people. अभी तुम batting track पे आए नहीं हो, तुम अभी practice track पर हो। You are on the practice track. You have to come to the test match track. Knowledge, watch knowledge. Be in seva. Are you doing seva, Arvind Kumar? You have to do seva. Every day, half an hour. You have to do something for someone else. Why is it that one comes for weekly kriya? हाँ! तो में बोला ना। 24 का question है की  if you don't come for Weekly Kriya, आपका जो cycles है वो shift होते है। You go from slow, medium and fast to medium, fast and super fast. And why does it happen? See, when you are doing Kriya, the mind is automatically brought to the present. क्रिया करते वक्त mind present में आ जाता है and mind hates it. He doesn't like, इसको लगता हैं यहा से भागो। ये present is useless time, useless place to be. Mind hates to be in present. So, it makes a trick on you की जल्दी ख़त्म करते है। How do you do जल्दी ख़त्म? Fast कर दो। Slow, medium, fast को कर दो medium, fast, super fast. So, जल्दी ख़त्म हो जाएगा। है ना? This is what will happen. That is why the drift happens when you don't do. And when you do Kriya with Guruji's voice, he will say, "So-hum, so-hum." You breathe, "tannana." You reset the rhythm all the time. बस, then you are good. That is why Weekly Kriya is must. Every week एक बार Guruji कि आवाज में क्रिया करना हैं।

I do SKY everyday - irregular timings? Is it good?

Yeah, it is good in the way that at least you are not not doing it. कर तो रहे हो daily, that’s good. See if you can make it at the fixed time. Then it becomes more effective. See everything, even Ayurveda, if you look at Ayurveda, you have to eat at the same time every day. Then the body knows, 'अभी खाने का वक्त है', 'अभी सोने का वक्त है', 'अभी काम करने का वक्त है', all that. अभी तुम randomly कभी तो एक बार 7 बजे खाओगे, बाद में 9 बजे खाओगे, बाद में 12 बजे खाओगे, तो कैसे चलेगा? Body is not a machine! The body is also a live organism. So rhythm is there in everything. Same rhythm has to be there in your Kriya practice.

You will play की कुछ तो फालतू! There's no fun in playing a game. Funny in playing a game is that sometimes you will also lose. That is where the fun is in the game. It's a game, यार। ऐसे थोड़ी है। Will you play a game... चल I'll tell you. 100% of the time you will lose. Will you play the game? No. 100% of the time you will win. Will you play the game? Most likely not. When will you play the game? When it is 50-50.

India, Pakistan, कोई भी जीत सकता हैं, तभी मज़ा आता हैं गेम में। अभी सब अकरम, ये इमरान, कपिल देव, तेंदुलकर सब एक टीम में होगा तो क्या फ़ायदा? दूसरे वाले का तो वाट लगा देगा वो। There is no fun in that game. How to always remain motivated to do our practices on a daily basis?

देखों, it depends on the 22 year boy. Not all 22 year old boys are the same. If the 22 year old boy's name is Adi Shankaracharya, उनको क्या बोलोगे तुम? He is the guy who told you everything. If the 22 year old boy is called Sandeep Karode, उसको कुछ भी बोलो तुम spirituality के बारे में.. भाग जायेगा। He will run away.

I was at IIT sitting, living in the next room to Dinesh Kashikar. Which you guys know as Kashi Bhaiya. कितना हम लोग time pass किया वहा पे, IIT में? Did I learn Kriya? No. बावा भी था वहाँ पे, दिनेश घोड़के भी था वहाँ पे, प्रज्ञापाद भी था, जो तुम लोग अभी बोल रहे हो प्रशांत राजोरे। हम लोग सब same हॉस्टल में थे। We were in the same hostel. I was in third year, Rajore was freshy. I was in fourth year, Rajore was freshy. I was in the anti-ragging squad in the hostel, hostel 5. Rajore was freshy. I had to save that guy so many times. वो इतना लल्लू था कि कभी भी रो देगा वो। Somebody says something, he would start crying. If you start crying, somebody will complain to the dean. Oh, जो pantor थोड़ा rag कर रहा है उसका भी वाट लग जायेगा पूरा कैरीअर। I had to take care of that guy. Did I learn Kriya? No. I ran away from these jokers. I thought, "ये सब losers हैं।" "What is the point?"

Then I learnt Kriya after I came to America in 2003. This I am talking about in 1992. In 1991, 1992, all these guys, all of us were at IIT together. Rajore, Bawa, अपना Godke, Kashi, all these people. And me. And मैं भाग गया सब से, इन लोगो से। Then I met them after I did Kriya in 2003. I said, "Oh, these jokers are still here." "Okay, fine." Then Kashi and I got together. We did the Abhyasa app. Now we did some projects together. But there is a time for things to happen.

So I have given you the two extremes. Adi Shankaracharya, Enlightened at 22. Sandeep Karode, Complete Idiot at 22. Everything is in the middle of these two. Don't tell anything to anybody. Your life, your own life, if it is... मिसाल बना के रखो life को, the people should be impressed with your life. की यार ये बंदा amazing हैं। I want what this person has. Then they will listen to you.

Why you listen to Guruji? Because you say, "This guy is king, man." This guy is like king. I was not a big fan of Guruji. Did I tell you a story? I was not, after I did my first course, I was not a big fan of Guruji. I was like, "What is the big deal?" So then I played a game. Anytime Guruji would ask, somebody asked Guruji a question, I would answer the question in my head and I will wait for Guruji's answer and I will make a score that, "Sandeep का answer better है या Guruji का answer better है?" And मेरेको लगा कि 25% तो मेरे साइड में होगा। 25-75 ऐसा।

It started. "Sandeep 0, Guruji 1. Sandeep 0, Guruji 5. Sandeep 0, Guruji 25. Sandeep 0, Guruji 100. Sandeep 0, Guruji 1500. Sandeep is never bloody winning. ये क्या है? How come Sandeep is not winning? Sandeep is a smart guy. तभी मैं समझा कि, Guruji is not smart, he is enlightened. I can never come to his level. That is when I became a fan of him. And now I am totally devoted to him. I will do anything for him. But it started like that. Everybody has a journey to go. So when people say, you know, I am a skeptic, I say, "हाँ, आजा, बैठ जा, I was also in your place. Let's talk." I love these so-called skeptic people. I have been there, यार. I was a big skeptic myself. Don't worry about it.

How to advise 22 year old... Let him live, यार. 22 year old guy has to live his life.

There are some genuine people who have shared criticism on SKY and claim to have been harmed by doing it. Kindly help address the concern.

Yeah, all that is happening. Correct. See, then you have a physical limitation like you have a high blood pressure problem or you are a heart patient. There are certain things you cannot do.

You know, Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary, they climb Mount Everest. अभी तुम heart patient को बोलो, "चल climb the Mount Everest." ऐसे थोड़ी करते हो? No, you cannot get a heart patient to climb Mount Everest. It is not possible. Similarly, heart patients and some people with a certain mind condition, they are not supposed to do Kriya. In fact, not everybody is supposed to do Kriya. Get it out of your head यार that, "सबको क्रिया करवाना है।" ये पागलगिरी है। Nobody, everybody does not have to do Kriya. Is this clear?

Whenever somebody is in trouble, they are going through some hardships in life, your instinct is कि, "उसको उठा और कोर्स में बिठा।" No need, यार। There is no need for that. You bring your sadhana, you are doing Kriya everyday, your sadhana, you bring it to them in their life. You be there for them. You don't bring them to the course. You be there for them. ये salesmangiri बंद करो तुम लोग। ठीक हैं। कुछ point नहीं है इसका। भाग जाएँगे सब लोग छोड़ के। भाग ही तो रहे हैं। Everybody is running away right now. Art of Living का नाम सुनते ही, "तुम लोग जोकर! छोड़ दे।" They have no respect for us anymore, because of the stupidity which we behave.

Your sadhana is to help other people in their life at their point in time. Your sadhana is not to convince somebody and bring them to the course. When they see you there, genuinely helping people where they are, they will become your biggest fan. They will say, "Boss, तू क्या कर रहा है यार? मेरेको बोल, मेरेको वो करना है।" "समझ में आ रही है बात तुम लोगो को?" Don't be a car salesman. "की चल कोर्स कर, ये, वो।" नहीं चाहिए। Guruji doesn't want anybody to do the course. It is good if they do the course, but make your life an example for people.

He is asking people, he has to ask people. Otherwise people are not doing it. So he has to ask. But you have to use your head a little bit.

Some youngsters asked, shall we do Kriya after masturbation or should we skip yoga?

करो, करो। It doesn't matter. You can do Kriya wherever. कोई problem नहीं है। There is no issue. Do yoga also. Wash yourself after and then you do. Don't do in that same state. Then it all becomes sticky and there is no fun there. Wash yourself. Then you do. See, sexual urges are the reason why you and I are existing today. It is just an urge. It is the primordial urge. The gene has to survive. It is a selfish gene. It is an evolutionary thing. The gene has to survive. It will make you do something that will propagate it. That's it. It is a sexual urge. It is a creative energy. Misdirected but nonetheless it is the same energy. So there is nothing wrong in that. Have at it. No problem.

Some have issues like their sexual energy is raised if they do Kriya daily.

Yeah, yeah. Sexual energy is rising after kriya. Fine. Let it rise. Find an outlet for it. Outlet for sexual energy doesn't have to be having sex. Outlet for sexual energy could be doing selfless seva for somebody else. It is an outlet for the energy. Again, you have to find an outlet for the energy. If you engage in the outlet of the energy of sex, you will go downward. It's a negative stroke of energy. It's going downwards. If you use that same sexual energy to do seva, that stroke becomes even bigger. It becomes up. Choice is yours. आपको stroke नीचे करना है या up करना है, It's up to you. There's nothing right or wrong.

I feel awkward when I do seva due to many reasons: a) I have a sister who is AoL teacher and everybody we know is already irritated by the overdose of please do this or that course

ये teacher लोग जो हैं ना, मैं बोल रहा हूँ तुमको, भाग जाओ इनके साथ। Don't worry about these teachers. You have to, so they're coming from a space of, oh, we got so much, so we want to share. They're coming from the right space, but it is not taken correctly from people.

This is what I would do. I would not, I would not tell anybody. I would mention that, you know, I do these practices and this is what my benefit is. And sometimes when they're, when you're close to somebody, you have to be a little strict and insistent. You know, it's like, let's say you have a son or a daughter. They are five year old, right? Or let's say seven year old. So they are school going age. So seven year old. And they tell you ki, papa, I don't want to go to school. तुम बोलते हो की "हाँ बच्चा, ठीक हैं, घर पे बैठो। Don't worry. Don't go to school." No, ना। You insist them. You tell them some story की ये होगा, वो होगा, कुछ तो सीखोगे। Some nonsense. And you shove them in the school bus and they go to school.

And when they are in the school, they're happy because they're with their friends, etcetera, etcetera. And then they come back and then you think, okay, now they have learned once, but next day morning, same drama. Oh, I don't want to go to school. अबे! When you're in the bus, you're very happy. So your job is to take them to the bus. That's the discomfort part of it. उसके बाद बस में क्या होता हैं, that's not your problem.

So this is what most people are doing. They are pushy because they want to put, they want to put you on the bus. And when you are not a five year old and now you're a 35 year old, now that becomes a tricky situation. Now that is not done. So for a 35, 40 year old, you don't put them on the bus. You say, Oh, you know, this is the yellow bus and it has got a driver and the driver's name is Amitabh Bachchan. जाओगे? हाँ जाऊँगा। हाँ, तो जाओ। You have to sell it to them in a way that they will understand. It's not really a sell. You have to offer it.

It's like a spoon. You have to be like a spoon. समझ में आ रहा है, spoon. Spoon में तुम soup लेते हो तो... your... the spoon is not important. It's the soup that is important. You have to be the spoon that gives the soup. We think that हम लोग तो यार spoon है, we are like gold colored. No boss. You're just a spoon. Relax. So don't push people. Don't push. Be there for them. Somebody is having a mental breakdown or somebody is in a frustrated state. पूछो की क्या है, क्या हो रहा हैं? चल, let's go and have some chai. Be there for them.

Friends तो बनो पहले। Everybody wants to be teacher. Nobody wants to be friend. अरे, ऐसे कैसे चलेगा? You have to be first friend. Then only you can be teacher. You be friend.

b) My personality is very girl next door type, I feel if I start posting about AoL stuff people will distant themselves even more thinking me as uncool

I love girl next door type. Yaar, ऐसे थोड़ी है। Girl next door type are so cool. If I start posting about AoL stuff. Yaar, so here's the thing. Nobody is telling you to post about AoL stuff. मत करो तुम। First thing I would like you to do, this question number 42, whoever that person is. Be comfortable with in your skin. Be comfortable. आपकी skin के अंदर आप कंफर्टेबल हो या नहीं हो? Right now you are not comfortable. So find your comfort. Find your comfort within your own skin. This is the point of accept yourself as you are. Remember the hand positions for accept people? Three fingers are pointing towards yourself. Accept yourself. Be comfortable with yourself in your skin, first thing.

उसके बाद, don't just sit there. Once you are comfortable, you stretch out a little bit and do something that is a little bit uncomfortable. And then you come back to your comfort. You stretch, Uncomfort feeling आएगा, फिर बाद में आ जाओ, be comfortable. Then you see की how that uncomfort feeling goes away when you come to your comfort position. And you keep doing this. थोड़ा stretch, थोड़ा discomfort, बाद में comfort. बाद में discomfort, बाद में comfort. What you will find is over time your zone of discomfort becomes smaller and smaller or your zone of comfort becomes bigger and bigger. You are comfortable in many more situations that you were previously not comfortable in.

This is called reversible stretch. Uncomfortable, comfortable. Uncomfortable, comfortable. But that uncomfortable has to come. Otherwise you will not go anywhere. You will be like the frog in the well. You will forever be in the well. You need to come out of the well. But for that you will be first comfortable. Find the comfort in your skin. Be comfortable. Then you do something which is little bit uncomfortable.

Let's say you tell people about the happiness programme and they shout at you, oh you feel really disgusted, uncomfortable. You run back to your comfort set, की ohhh. I don't have to do this anymore. That's it. एक बार कर दिया ख़त्म। It's like pulling out a काटा. Pulling out a thorn from your leg. निकाल दो, थोड़ा discomfort होगा, बाद में, it will be comfortable. Then you again do.

See why we do uncomfortable things. Why we go and tell people about some things like Art of Living course. It is your skill. How much are you able to convey. This is all the VTP programme is all about. It is a communication. How do you convey. आपको जो मिला है वो कैसे दिखाओगे आप लोगों को, यार ये हैं। This is it. That is the uncomfortable part. And you don't have to do anything that is uncomfortable but it is necessary. For growth, doing something uncomfortable is necessary for you to grow.

So first you have to decide do you want to grow. You want to grow. So then in baby steps you grow a little bit. थोड़ा comfort, थोड़ा uncomfort. थोड़ा comfort, थोड़ा uncomfort. You cannot convince anybody anyway. All you can say is की बॉस मेरे पास ये है। आपको चाहिए? Make your life an example that people say की यार इसके पास जो है वो मेरे को चाहिए। Then people will listen otherwise who cares.

Your personality is very girl next door. So don't do.

c) I want everybody to do AoL courses but at the same time I feel like people will think she is so weak and thin

I want everybody should do AOL course. Why? It's back to the same question. Why? Everybody should do the AOL course. It's like saying every animal should be able to climb a tree. Monkeys can climb the tree, how will a elephant climb a tree? It's impossible. Tree टूट जाएगा बेचारा। It's no chance. सबको काहेको? Nobody has to do everything the same. Otherwise, nature would have made only one kind of flower, yellow, ख़त्म, all flowers the same. It would be so boring.

Imagine, you could not make Silsila movie. "देखा एक ख़्वाब तो ये सिलसिले हुए।" You cannot shoot that movie unless you have six different colors of flowers. हैं कि नहीं, देखा है मुवी कि नहीं? जाके देखो तुम लोग। Movies tell you so much. My whole life I can learn from movies. We can do a whole session on only knowledge from movies. पूरा session सिर्फ movies के बारे में बात।

Nature is diverse because everybody is little bit unique. Guruji says you are a masterpiece. Unique item. There is nobody else like you. एक ही बनाया life में। That's it. So, not everybody has to do. Most people will benefit from it for sure. Make your life worth emulating. आपका life को ऐसा बनाओ आप की दूसरा ही पूछे कि बॉस तू क्या कर रहा हैं यार? चल मेरे को भी सीखा। That's it. That's what you have to do.

I find it extremely hard to take decisions especially life changing ones like is this boy good for marriage

I cannot give you life advice like that. You will say, "Bhaiya, you told me to get married to this boy. नहीं चला तो? मेरे पे आयेगा सब। "I am not going to say. You have to decide. See, your kriya will give you the intuition. Your kriya will give you the intuition. अंदर से वो आवाज़ आएगी। There will be one voice that comes from inside कि, "This is the good or this is not good." Listen to that inside voice. It's the best guide.

And of course you can always write to Guruji and when he comes you can say, "You know Guruji, a photo or something. I have seen people, I'll tell you. I have seen people going to Guruji, "Guruji, this dog, should I buy this dog?" "Arre, get the dog." "Yaar, Guruji को काहे को, get it." आपको चाहिए dog, ले लो। कोई problem नहीं है। Guruji को पूछने का question है ये? Should I get this dog? Come on. So like this. You look for it yourself. Your kriya will give you the answer.

You know we talked about on the Physics of Pranayama course. There is intelligence and then there is intellect. They are two different things. So you have to tap into your intelligence, not get stuck in your intellect.

What is the importance of doing Surya Namaskar?

I am trying to help a friend come out of her misery mostly by telling her to repeat courses. But we end up fighting. What am I doing wrong here?

Ya, repeat courses. See you know, if you have a tumbler, उसको आप उल्टा रखो, ऐसे उल्टा। उसपे तुम कितना भी पानी डालो, पानी जाएगा अंदर? नहीं जाएगा। ऐसा हैं। Some people are in that state, their tumbler is उल्टा। So you have to first straighten that tumbler. Only then water will go in. Be a friend to them first. Then you push them to courses. Being a friend to them is like straightening the tumbler. पहले tumbler को सीधा करो आप। दोस्त बन जाओ उसके। Real friend with no agenda, no nothing. Once that tumbler is straight, then you pour water. "अच्छा देख पानी है, पिएगी?" Then she will drink the water. अभी तुम पानी ही नहीं भर सकते हो tumbler में, कैसे पिएगी वो बेचारी? There is no chance. Be a friend to them first. Yeah, 10 years, so maybe 20 years of friendship is required. I don't know. Find a way.

How much time did it take you to research for PoP and what was your motivation?

I was teaching a course in Exton. यही से like 20 minutes drive पे है। मैं बैठा था, last day of the course, somebody asked कि how it all work. Some question like that. So I just started talking. I said, you know this, that, that, that, that, that, that. All this stuff came out. It was not in the polished form that you saw. Like, you know, all those charts, etc. It was all in the head somewhere, but I was just talking. And I was like surprised of the words that were coming out of my mouth. I said, "ये कोन बोल रहा है बे। Who's talking?"

So then I excitedly came home. And the first thing I did, I called Madhuri. She's my wife. She's a senior teacher in the house. I'm the junior teacher in the house. I told her, "Madhuri, you know what? This happened and I said this, this, this." And she looked at me and said, "No." I said, "What do you mean no?" She said, "It's not ready." "Not ready" means? "It's not ready for you to tell the world this. You have to first figure it out." The idea was there. I said, "Okay, fine."

So then I did the research and I looked at this paper. How does breathing happen? How does that happen? And I figured it out. And one by one by one, all those pearls started coming. And I made a necklace out of it. And now you have seen the necklace. It's called the Physics of Pranayama. I wrote a whole blog on it. कोई तो post कर, Parin or somebody, they can post that blog here, the link for... I wrote a whole article on the Brief History of Physics of Pranayama. पढ़लो आप जाके।

Why do we exercise before meditation?

So the reason to exercise before meditation is to dislodge the tamas, this quality of inertia that is in us called tamas, that has to be dislodged before Dhyan can happen. If you sit in meditation with excess of Tamo guna, then there is no meditation. It translates to sleepitation. This drool will come like this, shirt सब गिला हो जाएगा यहा पर। Suddenly ujjayi breath will happen. That is called sleepitation. So meditation नहीं होता है।

So to not get into sleepitation mode, you do some exercise, do some Sun Salutations, do some Padmasadhana, something. Then the tamas is dislodged. Then when you sit, meditation can happen.

Is it wrong to pass wind when doing SKY?

He told us to teach them nadi shodhan pranayama for like 20 minutes. 20 minutes we sit and we just do nadi shodhan with them. And that release is so much. It's amazing. It's so powerful. Because nadi shodhan it balances the hemispheres of the brain, and in that process of balancing, impressions get released. Because perspectives are locked. One part of the brain is super active. Other part of the brain is not so active. This is why it's called post-traumatic stress. Post-traumatic stress means what? Traumatic event has happened, and after that traumatic event, the impressions are so strong in the head that you keep reliving that event again and again and again. That is why it's called post traumatic, PTSD. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. So, nadi shodhan pranayama is very, very, very helpful. It comes directly from Guruji.

Kriya should not be done in front of children. Why?

Yeah. Why they should not be done in front of children? Because when you are doing kriya it's not that they should not see you or something. They can totally see you doing Kriya. When I am in India, when I am staying with my brother in Pune, I leave the door open. I leave the door of our room open and when Madhuri and I are doing Kriya, my young nephew, my brother's son would come and he would stand at the door watching us do Kriya. We will do Three-stage pranayama, Bhastrika, then we will sit and we will do so-hum, so-hum like this. After that, we will do Sahaj. And every couple of times, he will come inside the room, and he will come closer and closer, and he will sit at the edge of the bed. Then he will climb on the bed and he will come closer and closer and closer. And he knows that Kriya is 20 minutes, Sahaj is 20 minutes. So he knows 40 minutes इन लोगो को disturb नहीं करना है। He knows that. And he will come and come and come.

And once I said I will play a game with him. So after I knew that 20 minutes of Sahaj was over, and I just sat and not opened my eyes. I could see Sid, he was getting all anxious because he wants to play with you. He likes the energy so he is drawn to it. So, they love the energy but sometimes they don't have that awareness of not jumping on you. And if you are in a Samadhi state, if you are in meditation state after Kriya and the child will suddenly jump on you, it will shake you. The body and mind will get shaken a lot.

That is why you have to keep the kids at a distance because the energy will draw them. They will simply jump. And Sid, we had trained him that don't come. So when we initially did, we closed the door. So he knows that he is not supposed to come. Then we opened it a little bit. Then over 4 or 5 days we used to open it fully. So we trained him but this is the reason for not doing it in front of kids because they will jump. Even pets, the dog or the cat, they will jump on you. Same.

I am having problem during meditation in my leg, It starts paining or become over sensitive and numb.

So one possibility is that you are sitting in Padmasana really tight. Tightly बैठे  हो in पद्मासन. So loosen that. Loosen your... When the legs are folding, keep it loose. See if that helps. Only then we can understand.

It's very easy for somebody to draw a cartoon on the thing and say blue circle here, yellow circle here, green circle here, pink circle here. But that does not become chakra. That becomes a cartoon. To experience chakra, you need to be very settled. This urge to experience the chakra is what will prevent you from experiencing the chakra. This is the catch-22 situation that most people don't understand. The urge to get somewhere prevents you from getting there.

I told you the story about my first meditation with Guruji. If you don't remember the story, then you come back in the next session. I'm not going to tell any more stories in this session. Social distancing is the only way we have to have a handle on controlling this thing. Why I'm telling you? Because this is a very weird disease. So what will happen? It will prevent the oxygen from the lung from being dissolved in the blood. This is what it does. The basic of it is that. In the alveoli, there is this single walled membrane and it will swell that membrane. So it will reduce the transport of oxygen into your blood. And then even if you're infected, you will not know that you're infected. Why? Because the amount of blood, amount of oxygen transfer goes down. So your body compensates. It will start breathing a little faster. And then it goes down again and it compensates again. And you don't know that you're doing it. It had happened subconsciously. The time you know is when your blood dissolved oxygen level goes to 50% of saturation. That is when the body cannot compensate anymore. So from 100%, usually the blood dissolved oxygen is 100% saturation. From 100% to 50%, you will not even know that there is something wrong with you. And then when you realize there is something wrong with you, you go to the hospital. Your blood dissolved oxygen is 50% of where it should be. So they have to take drastic measures to get you back. So don't take it lightly. Don't think, "I'm the king, I'm doing Kriya, so I'll go out without a mask." Boss, wear a mask. Wear a mask, wear gloves. Be careful, okay? I'm not kidding you.

This is a serious thing. This COVID-19 is not to be joked with. All these jokers who are going on the street and doing this, that and demonstrations, they are mad. They don't understand the gravity of the situation. I am telling you, don't mess with this thing. Because from the time of onset to the time of symptom is a big change. The body will lose 50% of its oxygen till it realizes that you are in trouble. It's not that 10% where you can fix it. Sometimes even fever doesn't come. It is an emulsion. So it breaks with the soap and then that protein that is inside, which is the infected virus, gets denatured because it has no oil protection. So it dies. It gets denatured. That is the reason for washing your hands for 20 seconds with soap. There is a method behind the madness. Just because you don't know the method does not mean it is madness. Follow it. Be very very careful. Yes, with a pulse ox you totally check your oxygen level. Yes, it will help you. But for that you need a pulse ox.
